Accessibility Statement

We want this experience to be usable by as many people as possible, including with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or reduced motion.

Interim version — self-assessed, no external audit

Our target

We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This is a target we work towards, assessed by ourselves. No independent accessibility audit has been carried out, and we do not claim conformance.

What we have done

  • A skip link lets keyboard users jump straight to the main content of every page.
  • Every page has one main landmark, one first-level heading and a heading order that follows the content.
  • All interactive elements are real buttons and links, reachable with the Tab key, with a clearly visible focus ring.
  • Form fields have permanent visible labels, are marked required or optional, and errors are announced and linked to the field they concern.
  • Dialogs and menus can be closed with the Escape key and return focus where you left it.
  • The cinematic films are decorative, silent and carry no information that is not also written in text.
  • When your system asks for reduced motion, scroll-driven film sequences hold a still frame and animations are removed.
  • Layouts reflow to 400% zoom and on small screens without horizontal scrolling; touch targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
  • Text is placed on solid or strongly dimmed backgrounds so contrast is maintained over film.

Known limitations

  • The island map on the Group page is a visual experience. Each location is also a labelled button with its own description, but the spatial relationship between locations is not conveyed without sight.
  • Some films are long; they have no captions because they contain no speech and no informative sound.
  • We have not yet tested with every combination of browser and assistive technology.
